Pari, as an organisation under the leadership of Prof.Sainath, has rendered great service to the common folks of common lands of India by sharing their stories - which help us to understand the rich cultural heritage of peaceful co-existence with all its conflicting contradictions, of the tenuous relationships between different communities, gender, castes, religions backgrounded in the agriculture, farming, growing crops and celebrating festivals among other things. Its very simplicity is stark enough to awaken the rest of disconnected and callous urban India and its forgetful amnesic generations to an earthiness, that is unfortunately not a part of their lived histories. The paradoxical sense of humanity and compassionate sharing in the end despite the social complexities should humble the city-bred.Tucked away in the deep ends of different geographies are people's diversities and their lives that are the very basis of an India which is fast getting smothered or erased in the drum beats of unity and coercive homogenisation.
It is a timely recall and reminder not to forget what is on the margins today, was central in the past and is struggling today to captivate crass developmental, insensitivities.
